Big congratulations to Matuse Family Member, Kevin Sullivan, for taking 2nd at the first Quicksilver Pro Puerto Escondido 4 Star WQS event. The Maui born native used his barrel riding prowess to take down a highly competitive field to work his way into his first ever pro final.
“Words can’t even describe how I feel right now,” Sullivan said. “It was hard out there. You pretty much have to just be in the right spot when the waves come because it’s a beachbreak. I got a couple in the Final, but I didn’t really get the sets to get the scores, but David (Rutherford) did. I’m stoked for him. To make the Final and have David win, it’s the best day of my life.”
Local charger and hero David Rutherford took first proving the locals know the break best. We look forward to seeing Kevin carry this momentum to the rest of the WQS schedule. Check the link to see the video highlights of the event.
Matuse Family Members, Jamie Sterling and Todd Glaser, have been posted up in Mexico waiting for the new south swells. Looks like they scored some good conditions along with some huge barrels. Check out the full article on SurferMag.com.
