Sasquatch Stan Speaks: Abalone Cronies

Into the Depths from Paul Hamilton on Vimeo.

My Grandfather and Uncle, Richard and Dave Pierce, embarked on an abalone diving trip to Jughandle Gulch near Mendocino, California last month. Along came their friend Paul Hamilton who filmed, edited, and composed the music to create this clip. In this rugged zone along the Pacific, something interesting lies in every nook, cranny, and bed of kelp. Yet the strong currents, rough waves, and barnacle covered rocks pose a few roadblocks to say the least. In fact, the day after this vid was filmed, a diver lost his life just miles down the coast. Even though both these guys outsize the Matuse size chart, big ups to being fearless and pushing 80! Crackin’ ab’s and a well deserved brew! Good on ya Grandpa and Uncle Dave!

Johnny Monster Maher in Fiji

Bula Matuse Family,

I just got back from another awesome boatman stint on Tavarua, threw this mini-movie together with the few editing skills I learned recently. I had a good time filming around the island to try to capture something other than just surfing. Hope you enjoy it.
