Dear Matuse Family,
The fundraiser was a lot of fun as well as a success. The Hawaii ALS support group would like to thank you for your donation. They were able to raise thousands of dollars to help patients with ALS who can’t afford their medical needs such as home care which is not covered by insurance. It was a lot of fun playing softball, eating great food and hanging with friends and family all day.

If you’re lucky enough to be in Hawaii on the 4th of July be sure to visit the charity BBQ and Softball event at Kapiolani Park on Oahu. This event marks the 71st Anniversary of Lou Gehrig’s retirement from baseball after he was diagnosed with ALS. Help support this worthy cause to find a cure. Matuse Family Member, Daniel Jones, is involved with this event.
When: July 4, 2010. 11am to 4pm.
Where: Kapiolani Park. Softball fields in the middle of the park.
Why: Support a great cause and have fun doing it. $5.00 gets you a hot dog or hamburger, a drink and one raffle ticket.
Prizes: Assorted prizes. For sure you can win a Matuse prize pack. Includes a Matuse top of your choice, one Matuse shirt and a Matuse hat.

If you are lucky enough to be in Indonesia you can get your hands on a free issue of Lines Magazine. Mikala scored the cover shot on the most recent issue. This shot was taken by Mikala himself in this perfect Indo barrel. No step off, he actually paddles into the wave with the camera in hand and snaps the shots once he’s up and riding. Insane shot and lovin’ the Matuse sticker on the nose of his board.

Hey Matuse Family,
It has been an amazing year for waves in California. I was thinking about this the other day and we’ve had good swell and waves for the last year straight! (Except for the last few months and I was in Indo anyways haha!) Even last summer was great.
This is a pulled back perspective of Seaside shot by Todd Glaser. I didn’t even know he was shooting so I was pretty stoked when I saw the photo. Seaside was pumping for a month straight at the end of last year. The waves were good, the air was crisp, and the water was cold! My HOPLITE 322mm fullsuit was perfect for the occasion. Thanks boys for making light, warm, functional suits! Its much appreciated!

Hola Matuse Familia,
I had a really fun day yesterday of surfing and hanging down at the beach with friends and fellow Matuse wearing amigos Ryan Burch and Joel Tudor. The combination of south swells from Hurricane Darby, Celia, and Abby’s storm joined forces and met us at none other than Malibu point. Light winds and an overall high tide for most the day kept us in the water a lot. Here’s a couple of photos from our day.
