Derek Dunfee Flick Sneak Preview

Down With the Ship from Derek Dunfee on Vimeo.

Duck tape and determination, DD on the grind with his ankle on the mend.

Matuse Family Member, Derek Dunfee, recently collaborated with his freewheeling photo-savant twin, Taylor Dunfee. Their objective: creating a live motion piece that captures Derek’s journey from a shattered ankle suffered at Cloudbreak to winning the XXL Monster Paddle Award while charging Mavericks. To get back in the water, Derek re-focused himself to a strict regimen of Yoga and training with his other brother, Shane “the Hurricane” Hurdman. Big Ups to all the Brothers Dunfee for hustling and pushing any envelope.

CAN’T KNOCK THE HUSTLE

Jay Z On To The Next One

Keeps it moving. Damien Hirst handiwork. Big ups to Big Hov.

You know what this is. No rest for the wicked. None for the gifted. No need to worry about sleepin. Rolling stones gather no moss. Get your Carpe Diem on. White collar or blue collar, put your sleeves up. Idea, pens and paper. Get on it. Make it slow. Make it fast. Make it happen. Chase your passion or your pension. Zero apologies for working. Go hard. Don’t front. All love. No hate. One.

Dear Matuse Family,

It’s been a while, but I just published a piece about the online publisher Demand Media, often referred to as a content mill (although they hate that, as I learned when I asked one of their executives about the term after a talk he gave on Monday). It’s a very interesting company and could have a big impact on the future of media:

Matuse Family Member, Matt Pressman, is an Assistant Editor at Vanity Fair Magazine and a bard-at-large. The Boston-native, Dartmouth Alum and Manager of VF’s vaunted softball squad, resides in New York City. When he’s not musing on the arts, the economy and other relevant social happenings Matt can be found mad dogging Yankee fans.

2103 native and La Jolla local, Bret Howard, recently gave us some primo feedback on his new hoodless 432 Tumo front zip. No flushing. No roughness around the collar. Full-on flexibility. Obviously the Geoprene kept him warm. Keep your eyes peeled for Brett in the waters near you and ask him for yourself.

John Lynch Lovin' SB In His 432

Here are some images from the past swells to hit the Cali coast. John Lynch scored some super fun point waves and Jon Shafer was on hand to document the events. Some rare spots in SB broke which gave locals a ton of fun options on where to surf. Here’s to El Nino.

Joe Likes His Adventures

Joe Termini

I have some fun times with my friends. I feel as if most of the blogs I post should be marked as my Adventures. There is an amazing quote by Eleanor Roosevelt “do one thing everyday that scares you.” I would like to carry on that tradition in my life. I am also pretty certain that those who read this blog feel the same way. So here are some images of my friends and brothers (and me) putting ourselves in some interesting situations

This truck was bought by my friend rob for his hotel. We quickly realized it would be of much better use than just carting people back in forth from the beach.
