The First Liberian Surfboard

Sean Brody of the Surf Resource Network has been a busy man. A surf photographer, who’s images you’ve seen on our website, is a man on a mission. From a trip he took to Liberia a few years back he was inspired by the place, people and surf he found there. Well now Sean has two projects he has launched off the ground. One is his surf credits program where surfers or anybody can purchase surf credits for areas they are visiting which then gives the purchaser some cool discounts on gear of participating companies. The main thing is that people can choose how much and where the dollars go. This helps to offset the footprint the traveler is making to the place they are visiting.

Sean is also setting up a really detailed venture to create a surf camp in Liberia but also build a system that includes the local community, develops their businesses and improves living conditions so the community is positively impacted as a whole from the start of the surf camp. More info will be released but this ecosystem Sean is developing will be the first of it’s kind and a great example of how future and even existing surf camps in remote communities can function better with the local inhabitants. With the team he has in place we’re looking forward to see what will become reality and really make a difference in a place with special waves but no opportunities for the local people.
