Meet MATUSE Family Member Mike Stuart

Mike Stuart has been a part of the Matuse Family for some time now, and he continually represents the company in different ways. Mike is one of the best underground surfers in La Jolla and he’s been a standout at places like Big Rock, Blacks and Windansea for a long time.

At a time when Mike could have pursued professional surfing, he chose to go to college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Mike surfed the central California area on a consistent basis until he graduated from Cal Poly.

Mike then returned to La Jolla, CA and found a job at the Karl Strauss Brewery in San Diego. Even though Mike works full time at the Karl Strauss Brewery, he still finds time to chase big swells with John Maher and Derek Dunfee.

Mike is an active member of the Windansea Surf Club, and he shows his support by helping the club with events and writing the Windansea Surf Club Newsletter. Mike maintains a consistent workout ethic with Shane Hurdman at Sharpe Fitness, and he has proven to be one of the top guys in the surf-specific workout class.

Mike’s girlfriend Kelly also surfs and is seen testing the highly anticipated women’s MATUSE suit called the Artemis. This women’s premium wetsuit will be available come winter 2009.
