Matuse Family: Chris Del Moro – NYC

Dear Matuse Family,
Brother Joel’s second invitational was a roaring success. As the 16 invitees made their way from around the Globe, the sleepy little town of Montauk braced itself for more hipster vibes than a Costa Mesa house party.. As expected we brought plenty of colors and good times to the amazing Surf Lodge hotel. VANS did an amazing job of hosting us all in fine style, from one of a kind skate decks, gift bags, amazing veggie grinds and yes of course the best log jam ever assembled… The premise hasn’t changed, 9’2 and above, no leashes, single fin only and no interference, which roughly translates into a hot stew of log static shredding like never seen before.. Over the course of our 3 day waiting period the waves went from windy and flat to really windy and 2 foot.. Although not ideal conditions we made the most of what mother nature laid out and everyone brought the circus act to the cold front of the Atlantic ocean.. Lost a close semi final and watched Justin Quintal win the second event in a row from the comfort of a beach fire and a super peanut gallery… All in all, the week in NYC was amazing on many fronts, got to spend time with great friends that span the world of art, sk8, surf and lifestyle.. Got myself a fresh Jesus cut from Dani, danced my ass off to Public Enemy, met Flava Flave, wandered aimlessly in the city with host Mikey Detemple and spent a lot of time smiling…Thanks Matuse for the great suits and hope all you are thriving and jiving…
