Jeff Myers Heads South

As mother winter sat unwelcoming next to me in the Carolinas at a bar so empty it seemed more fitting being closed,
I took another proper pull from my Blanton’s Whiskey on the rocks drowning my sorrows courtesy of another fast failed relationship gone astray. Accompanied by a bartender even more drunk than yours truly I made a toast to another day here in paradise, payed my tab and took a taxi home, alone.

Seeking refuge from my own mind and the weight of the season once home I pulled the trigger on a jaunt to South America in search of surf and sanity… I convinced a fellow friend of mine to partake as he too just failed a relationship and was tackling the very same mindset. So off we went to dance away defeat in Ecuador in all of her Southern goodness!

We were to reside at a childhood best friends establishment, La Buena Vida, for what turned out to be three glorious months. The humans there were culture rich and extremely friendly. The women came in all ethnicities and were well educated in travel and language amongst many other fine talents. The food delicious, beer ice cold and lifestyle extremely affordable!

The surf was incredible and without further boring you with this tall tale rant, Ecuador healed us right nice… I highly recommend a visit if you ever find yourself mending a broken heart with top shelf whiskey in a cold dark bar out of season. It just may do you kind!
