Flynn Novak Onto Round 3 @ Pipeline

Matuse Family Member, Flynn Novak, took down WCT competitor Michel Bourez in round 2 today at the Pipeline Masters. This is Flynn’s second heat win after taking down Australian surfer Luke Stedman in round 1.

Even though the waves were on the decline there were still many clean barrels breaking up and down the reef. Backdoor was definitely the better of the two waves which made this heat especially difficult for the goofy footer from Hawaii. Flynn battled through by staying busy catching 13 waves during his heat. Flynn’s local knowledge proved to be the edge as he picked off the better sets during his 40 minute heat.

Keep an eye on Flynn as he heads into round 3. Flynn is a standout at Pipe and no one wants to draw him in their heat. The top WCT riders now come into the fold. Lets hope for large west sets to role through so the 6’4″ Flynn can get some stand up barrels.
