Derek Dunfee Nominated for XXL Paddle Award

Congratulations goes out to Matuse Family Member Derek Dunfee who was recently nominated as a contender for the Billabong XXL Monster Paddle Wave of the Year!

Derek’s wave was shot at Mavericks during the clean massive swell of Thanksgiving weekend 2008. Derek nabbed one of the biggest sets all weekend and was lucky to have Todd Glaser there to take the photo of the monster ride.

Derek has put in a life’s work of training and riding to be able to perform at such a high level. Many of the guys were saying it was one of the best paddle sessions ever to go down in big waves. A testament to the break, swell and conditions all coming together to produce such an awesome stage for these talented riders.
