Here’s a little bit about The People’s Movement.

THEIR STORY:
The People’s Movement was born from the desire to create wearable goods for friends that reflected our shared fervor for timeless design, travel and the environment. We are driven by less work, more time to surf and being the positive change we want to see in the world through the way we run our company. Our first product, The People’s Shoe, was initially inspired by the classic sneaker worn by the migrant workers in Shanghai. Timeless, well built, comfortable, reasonably priced and super styley, we used these proletarian shoes as a platform to build a label that will do good and look good doing it. We’re humble in our approach, as we know we have much to learn, but look forward to the challenge and are charged to share our vision with you.

THEIR MISSION
It’s not just where you are going, but how you get there that counts. Believe in what you wear and make sure it stands for something. We stand for ideas that lead to positive change and partner with grass root groups struggling to get these messages out. We stand for using organic, recycled and re-purposed materials in our products whereever possible and are constantly searching for the better option. We stand for “look good, do good, feel good.” Join the cause and start a MOVMT.

Derek Dunfee in Puerto

Matuse Family Member, Derek Dunfee, headed south to Puerto Escondido to catch the first solid south swell of 2012. The conditions came together for some really fun waves. Above Derek doing what he does with what looks to be another Matuse Family Member, Todd Glaser, floating down the line capturing the shot. Below is a video on big wave surfing at Mavericks. Derek Dunfee has a slow-mo wipeout at the 1:55 mark. There’s always a price to pay.
