Matuse x Head of The Charles

Matuse family member Lenny Futterman shown here sporting his Premium (the ichiban) Game Matuse gear at the 2011 Head of The Charles this past October. Futterman is no stranger to the Matuse blog or to the medal podium in the past couple years of competitive rowing. Before arriving last year in Boston for his Freshman year, Lenny competed for the prestigious Vesper Rowing Club in Philadelphia and took his squad to Club Nationals, where Futterman won the Senior 4 and the Senior 8, both by sizable margins. Last year as a Freshman at Boston University, Futterman sat seventh seat in the Men’s Freshman 8, solidified wins for the Terriers against Brown, Northeastern, and Wisconsin, and competed in the Grand Finals of both the Eastern Sprints and IRA’s (the National Championships for NCAA). After a very successful and productive Freshman season, Futterman became the youngest member to be selected to the U.S. Youth 23 team at 19. Representing the Red, White, and Blue this Summer over in Amsterdam, Futterman competed for the U.S. in the Men’s Double Sculls for the 2011 World Championships. Ya…he’s that nice. At the Chuck, Lenny helped the Terriers solidify a 7th place finish, with a time of 14:36.3. Keep a potential look out for Lenny this Summer in London for the 2012 games and representing team U.S.A. for many years to come.
Hangs Upon Nothing Movie Trailer
We are proud to present Matuse Family Member, Jeremy Rumas’s movie trailer to his film “Hangs Upon Nothing”. We’ve been featuring frame grabs over the last couple of years from this film and we’re very excited to see Jeremy getting closer to releasing this film. Robo is a Fan

Matuse Family Member, Zach Plopper, has been traveling through Europe and been scoring some great waves. On his recent time spent in Spain he ran across an interesting character named Robo. Here’s what Zach wrote.
“Matuse has a dedicated fan in Santander, Spain. His name is Robert Amasuno but you can call him Robo. He is half Canuk, half Spanish and quite possible the funniest human being alive. He loves his Hoplite. You can find him ripping a Spanish north coast beachbreak near you.”
It’s good to see Matuse alive and well in Santander, Spain.

Dear Matuse,
During the winter of 2011 I traveled with a small team of surfers to an undisclosed location in the Maritime Province area of Canada. There I filmed what would be the final trip for the surf film SIGHT|SOUND. Along with us was Matuse rider Justin Quintal, whose on screen wave time proved to be one of the highlights of the film. Here are some 35mm film photos I shot between sessions.
