Yazzy Testimonial

Yazzy in a Matuse Hoplite 4/3/2 wetsuit“As a surf photographer and surfer dedicated to shooting in the colder reaches of the surfing world, I’ve tried almost every single wetsuit out there to find one that would work well and keep me warm in those cold but epic days. I have been wearing Matuse suits for the last year ( a 5/4/3 for those extemely cold days and a 4/3/2 for everything else) and since the first time I put one on, I have refused to wear anything else. The reason is simple: they work and feel amazing!

Matuse makes the best wetsuits in the world hands down. They are warm, light, flexible, feel great and don’t soak up water and after a full year on the frontlines in places like Norway and Canada, my Matuse suits are still as good as new. While some other wetsuits also feel warm at first, they lose their properties after a few months of use. This is not the case with my Matuse suits. They seem to fit and feel better with time and have not lost any of their insulating properties despite extensive use.

The best part about my Matuse suits is that I can go a thickness smaller, where I’d normally wear a 6/5/4 I’m now wearing a 4/3/2 comfortably. I’ve worn the 4/3/2 in Norway in February in water in the low 40s and I’ve been warmer than I would have been in a traditional “neoprene” suit. On a recent water photo session, while some of the surfers were freezing after an hour in the Arctic waters in their 6mm, I was still swimming comfortably after 3 hours in my 4/3/2mm. The Geoprene also feels amazing both on the body and on the mind and with the price of gas it’s great to use a product that is not petroleum dependant.

A lot of the trips I do involve doing water shots in really cold water (lower 30s). At such extreme temperature, you really notice a difference in performance, especially when you’re completely submerged in water. Where I would normally feel tight and bloated in a 6mm trying to survive the cold, I’m now free moving and I feel light, nimble, flexible and warm. My Matuse wetsuit allows me to focus on what really matters: surfing (and shooting photos). It dries quickly and doesn’t stink and rot like a normal wetsuit. I’m not being paid to say this but to anyone considering a new wetsuit, all you have to do is try one. The moment you’ll put it on you’ll know you’ve just put on the best wetsuit in the world. The proof is in the pudding, or in this case, the Geoprene!”
